MowNext vs Jobber

Jobber is great. It's also $199/mo the moment you hire one helper.

Jobber is a strong product for multi-trade home-services shops. For a lawn-only solo operator or a small crew, the math gets brutal — Core is $49/mo for one user, but Connect Team is $199/mo on month-to-month billing when you need a second login. Here's the current breakdown.

The pricing cliff, plain

Jobber's current pricing page shows $49/mo for Core on month-to-month billing for one user. The moment you need a second login, the public pricing jumps to $199/mo for Connect Team, which includes five users. Jobber also lists discounted 1-year and annual prepaid versions, but the structure is the same: you go from one seat to a five-user bundle in one step.

Add more office users and you're at Grow Team for $399/mo on month-to-month billing, or Plus at $699/mo if you want the full bundle. Jobber also sells AI Receptionist for $99/mo, Marketing Suite for $79/mo, and Pipeline for $49/mo outside Plus.

MowNext is $19/mo for the solo operator and $49/mo for a crew up to 5. Each additional user is $9/mo. A 10-person operation pays MowNext $94/mo. The same operation pays Jobber $399/mo on Grow Team month-to-month — about $3,660/year more for software that does the same job for a lawn business.

Where Jobber genuinely wins

If you run more than just lawn care — say you also do gutter cleaning, pressure washing, light HVAC, or holiday lighting — Jobber's multi-trade chops matter. So does the integration marketplace, the native QuickBooks Online sync on Connect, and the developer path Jobber now surfaces through its developer center and Plus onboarding. If your customers actually book online and you measure the conversion, Jobber's online booking is further along than ours.

If you do call answering badly and want an AI to take overflow calls, Jobber ships an AI Receptionist for $99/mo. We don't, and won't.

If you fit any of those profiles and the per-month math is fine for you, stay on Jobber. That's not us being polite — we'd rather you run the right tool than churn out of ours.

Where MowNext wins for lawn-only operators

SMS isn't gated to Grow

On Jobber's current pricing page, two-way SMS to customers sits on the Grow plan ($199/mo solo, $399/mo team on month-to-month billing). On MowNext it's on the $49/mo Crew tier — same price as Jobber's smallest paid plan. "On the way" notifications, 24-hour reminders, two-way conversations, all included.

Weather-aware reschedules are native

We pull NOAA forecast data every morning at 5am. If rain is forecast in your service area, jobs auto-flag with a one-tap reschedule option. Jobber has no equivalent — you find out from the eight angry customer texts.

No app-store dependency

Jobber wins if you want native iOS and Android apps from the App Store and Google Play. We win if you want a no-install PWA that runs the same on iPhone and Android, works offline, and doesn't force another app-store dependency on the crew.

Cancellation is one click

Jobber sells monthly no-commitment, 1-year commitment, and annual prepaid billing. With us: monthly billing by default, cancel from a settings page, no retention call.

The "switching from Jobber" math, three operator profiles

Solo with one helper (you + 1 tech, 80 customers):

  • Jobber Connect Team: $199/mo ($2,388/year)
  • MowNext Crew: $49/mo ($588/year)
  • Saved: $1,800/year.

Small crew (you + 3 techs, 200 customers):

  • Jobber Connect Team: $199/mo
  • MowNext Crew: $49/mo
  • Saved: $1,800/year.

Growing crew (you + 7 techs, 400 customers):

  • Jobber Grow Team: $399/mo ($4,788/year)
  • MowNext Crew + 3 seats: $76/mo ($912/year)
  • Saved: $3,876/year.

Migration from Jobber, in plain English

Free white-glove migration if you have 100+ customers. We export your client list, properties, and recurring schedule from Jobber, map it into MowNext, and you log in the next morning to a fully set-up account. Average time: 24 hours.

Under 100 customers? You can self-import via CSV in 10 minutes. We have a step-by-step guide.

FAQ — switching from Jobber

What about my Jobber Payments balance?

Stays on Stripe. Both Jobber and MowNext use Stripe Connect under the hood; you'll connect your existing Stripe account to MowNext in two minutes. Open invoices stay on Jobber until paid — we don't migrate payment history that's already settled.

Will I lose my QuickBooks sync?

Honest answer: yes, the native two-way sync. We support CSV export to QuickBooks (Online and Desktop) and a Zapier integration for new-customer / new-payment events. If your accountant lives inside QuickBooks and pulls daily, Jobber is the better fit.

What if I'm on annual or on a 1-year commitment?

Run MowNext in parallel until your Jobber renewal or commitment end date. We'll set you up so you can flip the switch the day your billing term comes due.

Do you have an AI Receptionist?

No. We won't build one. If you need 24/7 phone answering, the right tool is Jobber's AI Receptionist or a standalone like Ruby or Nexa.

What operators say.

Real comments from operators who used Jobber. We linked the source.

  • "Adding one helper to your crew and your CRM potentially doubles. That's not scaling — that's being penalized for growing your business."

  • "Jobber is more general purpose and not really specifically built for the green industry… overwhelming for new users, especially with features not relevant to lawn care."

Honest fit

Who should pick which.

We mean it. If you fit the Jobber list, stay where you are. We'd rather you find the right tool than churn in 90 days.

Pick MowNext if you…

  • Run a lawn-only business (mowing + occasional related work).
  • Have 1–8 employees, 1–3 trucks, 30–500 customers.
  • Don't use the Marketing Suite, AI Receptionist, Pipeline, or online booking enough to justify the price.
  • Want to stop paying $150/month extra the second you hire a helper on month-to-month billing.
  • Live in the truck cab, not the back office.

Stay with Jobber if you…

  • Run a multi-trade shop (lawn + cleaning + plumbing + HVAC).
  • Already have 8+ employees and an office admin who runs the system.
  • Use the Marketing Suite, online booking, Pipeline, or AI Receptionist as a real channel.
  • Need the bigger integration marketplace or Jobber developer tooling today.
  • Need native two-way QuickBooks Online sync that you depend on daily.
  • Have a CSM relationship and use it.
